This picture is a little bit of funny and a lot of embarrassing. Ok, well, maybe a lot of funny too.
I have never been too iPhone savvy. My kids are the ones who typically teach me about the new features I have on my phone. I never paid any attention to any of the settings when I would take pictures. And really, the last couple years, I was in no mood to be taking any selfies at all. So I was out of the selfie game for quite sometime.
When David and I started dating we were like a couple of teenagers and would send each other selfies pretty often. They were always dorky and we were either doing something silly, wearing something weird or making some funny face to make each other laugh.
Apparently, every time I would send a selfie to him it would always be a Live photo. If you are like me you may have no clue what a Live photo is. Let me save you the embarrassment and tell you. You will thank me later.
When your phone is set on Live photo, each picture you take is like a mini recording. It is not a still shot. So when the person you are sending it to receives the picture they can press down on the picture and see a short recording of you taking the picture.
Well, looks like this old school mom, who was new at not only dating but taking selfies, would send every selfie as a Live photo. This meant that this new cute guy I was dating and trying to impress would see me fidgeting with my hair, tilting my head, or trying to make the perfect smile or funny face in every picture I sent him. This particular picture I took because, of course, I was sporting my SF Giants shirt and he is an Oakland A’s fan. We also had this discussion the night prior about how much we both loved bacon.
He knew this the whole time I was taking these Live photos and never told me!!
Finally, after what I’m pretty sure was at least two months, I sent him some random selfie in my car. He commented back was that he liked the music in the background. I was so confused. How in the world did he know what music I was listening to when I only texted him a picture of my silly face? That’s when he finally had to spill the beans as to what I had been sending him this whole time.
I was so embarrassed. He on the other hand thought it was hilarious.
I’m sure you can imagine what jokes and fun Live photos bring to our family now.
