End of Watch

Today marks our 2nd End of Watch.

EOW is the date of death of a police officer who was killed in the line of duty. Today is hard.

Yet, actually for me it is the days that lead up to Mike’s EOW that are harder than the actual day he left us. I think about those last days with him. If I only knew…

This week we aren’t sitting around being sad. We are enjoying the beautiful outdoors together in one of Mike’s favorite places. We are doing something Mike loved, fishing.

We aren’t celebrating his EOW. We are celebrating the day Mike got to see Jesus face to face. I’d rather call it Mike’s EHG instead of EOW. The date Mike Entered Heaven’s Gates. So today, on Mike’s EHG, we remember, laugh, tell stories, and yes, cry a little while we celebrate the life of one absolutely amazing man, our own personal hero.
